San Antonio to Austin via backroads

 

This a nice ride with max speeds of 55-60mph

 

Starting at the Valero Station

16403 Nacogdoches Rd, San Antonio, TX

 

Head East on Nacogdoches Rd, continue straight through the light at the Shell station (this becomes 2252/Old Nacogdoches Rd.).

 

You'll pass a cement factory, keep going. Turn Left on FM 482 at the T-intersection.

 

Left on Krueger Canyon, Right on Wald Rd to a T-intersection, then left continuing on Wald Rd.

Turn Right on Landa Rd, continue into New Braunfels to the roundabout.

At the roundabout take San Antonio St(left). Take a Left on S. Union St., then Right on Common St.

 

Continue across FM 306 and continue on FM 1102/Hunter Rd. Continue on Hunter Rd, which becomes FM 2439 and W. Hopkins into San Marcos.

 

Take a Left on McAllen Parkway/University Dr, then Bear right onto Aquarena Springs until you come to Bobcat Stadium. Turn Left on Post Rd until you come to a low water crossing (this is tricky)

 

After the low water crossing take the hard left on Old Stagecoach Rd. At the intersection of FM 150, continue straight on Jack Hays Trail/FM 2770, then turn Left on FM 1626, for a long time, which eventually bends to the right to join FM 307/1626.

 

Turn Left on Manchaca Rd, continue into Austin passing through Slaughter Ln, Cannon Dr., Stassney Ln, and Hwy 290/71 before joining S. Lamar.
